February Camp was the most productive on record
for the Crusaders. The corps had 5 new minutes of music to learn and the rain held off (for the most part) so the corps was also able to learn almost 30 pages of drill Saturday afternoon in visual block.

All hands were on deck for February Camp. Assistant Director Justin Heimbecker attended his first Crusader Camp, joined by Bruno Zuccala, who last attended the November auditions. DCI Hall of Famer Gene Monterastelli was also in for the weekend, getting to know the staff and members. Monterastelli will spend a few weeks with the Crusaders this summer, focusing on organizational and instructional development.
Â
Composer Ryan George was also in attendance with Brian Murphy, to evaluate the production in its current state. The design team met Sunday morning to discuss revisions and tweaks prior to next month's camp.
Â
Executive Director Tom Spataro said, "We had a terrific weekend. It feels like we're really firing on all cylinders right now. Ryan and Ellis have put together a terrific musical package, Brian's drill looks great, and the kids are incredibly excited to get the summer started. Move-in is only 90 days away--it's time to get rolling!"
Â
Despite intermittent sprinkles the corps was able to be outside for a two hour ensemble block Sunday afternoon to put the show together. Chad Pence and Ellis Hampton were on hand to take the corps through the entire 2012 production. A small crowd of parents, volunteers and fans gathered at Lakewood Ranch to get the first glimpse of 2012.
