January Update
Crusaders staff were split up across the country over the course of January Camp weekend.  Tom Spataro, Brian Murphy, Bruno Zuccala and Ellis Hampton attended the DCI Annual Meetings in Chicago while Chad Pence, Darryl Pemberton, and Drum Major Thompson Vou and the remaining staff held down the fort at camp in Florida.

In Chicago, Spataro was re-elected to the Drum Corps International Board of Directors to serve an additional one year term, while Zuccala, Murphy and Hampton were part of the instructor caucuses that resulted in the unanimous approval of the new judging system.  Visit dci.org for more details.

Meanwhile, in Bradenton, FL, the corps had a very successful January Camp, with new music for both brass and percussion forming the backdrop for final membership selection in most of the sections.  Sunday afternoon's ensemble block saw the corps play through the first five minutes of the 2012 production, with an additional 3 minutes of brass material also under their fingers.  While the staff and directors were snowed in in Chicago, the corps spent a good portion of their weekend outdoors in 75 degree sunshine, including Sunday's ensemble.

The corps is set to learn drill in Feb as well as continue to work on completion of the music portion of the 2012 show.  Stop by February Camp to catch a glimpse, Feb 17-19 at Lakewood Ranch High School.
