As 150 members and a cadre of staff and volunteers descend on New England this weekend
to start their drum corps summer, Mass Bay Music Festivals wraps up the 2011 festival season with a full day today. Thursday and Friday's combined festival sessions saw bands, orchestras, and numerous choirs come through the halls of Burlington High School and off to their post festival activities.
A highlight of this week's sessions was that the Mass Bay Event Staff consisted primarily of Boston Crusaders. A handful of veterans and local members worked as group liasons, audio technicians and annoucers for Thursday and Firday's sessions. "What's great about having our members work at a Mass Bay Festival is that we give them an entirely new setting and an opportunity to present themselves in a professional capacity off the football field. And of course, it's something our members excel at," commented Crusaders Executive Director Tom Spataro. "It's great to see them working with high school and middle school students in this capacity."
